Carlisle split two games with Palestine-Wheatley on Friday night at Bison Arena.
Lady Bison survive
The Carlisle Lady Bison, ranked sixth in Class 2A by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, overcame a sluggish start then pulled away late from Palestine-Wheatley for a 47-33 win.
The game started off slowly for both teams but Carlisle led 15-4 after one quarter. The Lady Bison then led 24-15 at halftime.
The Lady Patriots kept it close and trailed 33-27 early in the fourth quarter. Carlisle scored six in a row to lead 39-27. Kayla Golleher hit 2 free throws. Elex McClain scored on a putback and Peyton Hitchings hit a short jumper to account for the run.
The Lady Bison then used an 8-0 run to put the game away. Kylie Warren scored four in a row; McClain and Nikita Harper each scored 2
Warren led Carlisle with 18 points. McClain had 10. Hitchings scored 8. Harper had 5. Golleher and Molli Weems had 3 points each.
The Lady Bison are now 13-5 overall and 10-0 in 2A-6 play.

Bison give Patriots a scare
The Carlisle Bison gave the Palestine-Wheatley Patriots all they wanted but came up short in a 68-61 loss.
Palestine led 62-52 following two free throws by Isaac Sanders with 2:06 left in the game.
Carlisle's Dominic Castleberry hit a 3-pointer and Cole Sheets hit two foul shots to cut the deficit to 62-57 with 1:45 left.
The Patriots then missed 4 consecutive free throws to give the Bison some life.
Carlisle's Brynden Weems hit two free throws with 1:12 left to cut the deficit to one possession at 62-59.
The Bison had a few chances to get closer but did not score again until Nick Schafer hit a jumper with 20 seconds left to make the score 66-61.
Weems led Carlisle with 19 points. Schafer had 17. Devon Kendrick had 10. Sheets added 8. Zack Caviness scored 4 while Castleberry had 3.
