PALESTINE — For the third time in Jonathan Buffalo's six years as Junior Lady Bison coach, his team is a district tournament championship team.
Carlisle held off a very good Clarendon team to win the 2A-6 district tournament on Thursday by a score of 42-38. With the win, the Junior Lady Bison finish the season 16-4.
"To win a conference championship undefeated at 9-0 and finish off with a district championship is huge for our kids and our program," Buffalo said. "They worked hard every day and earned it."
Carlisle led 14-4 after one quarter and 21-13 at halftime. The Junior Lady Lions made a run in the third quarter and outscored 16-9 to trail 30-29 heading into the fourth quarter.
Deshaye Ricks led Carlisle with 21 points. Arius McClain had 17. Blakely Ellis scored 4.
